The Egyptian Accreditation Council, EGAC is established by the Presidential Decree number 312/1996 and re-organized by the Presidential Decree number 248/2006 as the sole national body for the assessment and accreditation of conformity assessment bodies in Egypt performing testing/ calibration Laboratories, inspection and certification of products & systems as well as personnel. EGAC is headed by the Minister of Trade & Industry and governed by a board of 14 members, representing all stakeholders and concerned bodies.
The 9th Ordinary Session of African Union Conference of Ministers of Trade held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 01– 05 December 2014 called upon the Pan African Quality Institutions (PAQI) to adopt the year 2017 as African year of Quality Infrastructure. The decision was made in recognition of the efforts that Africa has made towards improving its quality infrastructure and to cultivate a culture of collective responsibility in building a sound quality infrastructure amongst African countries.
Activities to commemorate African Year of Quality Infrastructure will thus take place throughout the year 2017 on the continent with a call for enhanced efforts to boost economic integration, intra- African and global trade through investment in quality infrastructure. All interested stakeholders are hereby invited to take part in these special celebrations. This document provides information for use by both accreditation bodies and inspection bodies on the application of ISO/IEC 17020.
- An amendment to clarify clause 8.1.3 was proposed by the ILAC Inspection Committee (IC) and endorsed by the ILAC membership in July 2016.
- The previous version of ILAC P15, published in June 2014, had an implementation date of 18 months from the date of publication (ie December 2015). The implementation date for ILAC P15:07/2016 is from the date of publication on the ILAC website.
