As part of the African Health Excon 2025 events, held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo from 25 to 27 June 2025 under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi,

the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with:

• • – African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM)

  • – African Federation of Clinical Chemistry (AFCC)

  • – African Field Epidemiology Network (AFNET)

  • – General Medical Syndicate – Clinical Pathology Alliance

This agreement launches the African Lab Excellence Consortium, an award recognizing excellence in African laboratories.

The Excellence Program aims to:

• • – Foster a culture of innovation in medical laboratories across Africa

  • – Recognize and highlight areas of excellence in African medical laboratories

  • – Inspire non-participating laboratories to adopt various excellence approaches

  • – Enhance competitiveness through global standards of medical laboratory practices in Africa
