The Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC), affiliated with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, has renewed the accreditation of the National Institute for Standards (NIS). This renewal comes in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enhance international recognition and accreditation, as part of Egypt’s National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research 2030.
This accreditation renewal supports NIS’s strategic plan to strengthen international recognition of its activities and maintain compliance with the CIPM Mutual Recognition Arrangement (CIPM-MRA) and the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
The renewed accreditation covers a wide range of calibration and testing fields, including volumetric calibration, spectrophotometry, high-voltage electrical measurements, temperature, dimensional metrology, and laser, in addition to physical, mechanical, fire, noise, rubber, paint, and textile testing — totaling 81 accredited scopes in calibration and testing activities.
Dr. Mohamed Gamal, President of NIS, stated that this achievement reinforces the institute’s ability to provide internationally recognized calibration and testing services, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of results and supporting the competitiveness of Egyptian products in global markets.
