The Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Universities has become the first national entity in the Arab Republic of Egypt to receive both ISO 37000:2021 and ISO 30401:2018 certifications under the accreditation of EGAC. This accomplishment follows a series of in-depth assessment visits conducted by EGAC’s specialized technical teams, during which the Secretariat’s governance structures, operational procedures, decision-making mechanisms, and knowledge management systems were thoroughly evaluated.
This achievement highlights the Secretariat’s commitment to implementing advanced management systems that promote transparency, institutional accountability, evidence-based decision-making, and sustainable development. It also demonstrates the Secretariat’s dedication to establishing an integrated and knowledge-driven organizational environment that supports innovation and continuous improvement.
EGAC emphasized that the certification decision was based on rigorous evaluation criteria aligned with internationally recognized accreditation requirements, including those of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). The assessment process covered quality management, governance practices, occupational health and safety performance, and the effectiveness of organizational knowledge systems.
These certifications collectively reinforce the Secretariat’s role in enhancing the quality of services provided to the academic and research community, improving institutional performance, and strengthening national competitiveness in higher education and research sectors. The achievement also aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, which emphasize the adoption of robust governance frameworks and modern administrative systems across governmental entities.
EGAC highlighted the strategic importance of the Governance (ISO 37000:2021) and Knowledge Management (ISO 30401:2018) standards at the national level, as both contribute to improving the effectiveness and sustainability of public institutions, optimizing knowledge assets, and establishing organizational systems that foster innovation, knowledge sharing, and best-practice development.
EGAC commended the productive collaboration between the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Universities and the National Planning Institute, which played a key role in developing and aligning the Secretariat’s management systems with international requirements, enabling it to successfully meet the criteria for certification.
The Egyptian Accreditation Council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national institutions—both governmental and private—by providing internationally recognized accreditation services, technical assessments, and capacity-building guidance. EGAC continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening confidence in organizational outputs, enhancing service quality, and advancing Egypt’s position regionally and internationally in the application of modern management and governance systems.
