The Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) has granted the Central Laboratory of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade accreditation in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for chemical testing of flour products.
This accreditation represents the culmination of comprehensive development efforts undertaken by the laboratory since June 2023, which included the relocation and full upgrading of the laboratory from its former premises in Qasr Al-Aini to its new headquarters at the Assay and Weights Authority Building in Obour City, in line with the latest internationally recognized technical and laboratory requirements.
The laboratory underwent an on-site technical assessment conducted by an EGAC assessment team on 13 November 2025, during which compliance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 was verified. All technical findings were successfully addressed within a record timeframe, demonstrating the laboratory’s technical readiness and the competence of its personnel.
On 25 December 2025, EGAC formally approved the granting of accreditation to the laboratory for a four-year cycle, effective from 26 December 2025, with authorization to use the EGAC accreditation symbol in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
EGAC affirms that this accreditation enhances confidence in laboratory test results, supports international recognition, and contributes to the accuracy of regulatory decision-making, thereby strengthening the quality of monitoring systems for strategic commodities, particularly flour products.
