As part of the Egyptian Accreditation Council’s (EGAC) ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation and expand international and regional recognition of certificates and reports issued by accredited conformity assessment bodies, a Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MRA) was signed between EGAC and the newly established global accreditation organization GLOBAL ACI in the internationally and regionally recognized accreditation scopes.
This agreement comes within the framework of EGAC’s strategy aimed at supporting international integration in the fields of accreditation and conformity assessment, while enhancing confidence in testing, inspection, calibration, and certification results issued by EGAC-accredited bodies, thereby contributing to increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian products and services and facilitating their access to global markets.
The agreement aims to strengthen technical and institutional cooperation between both parties, promote the exchange of expertise and international best practices across various accreditation fields, and support mutual recognition of results issued by conformity assessment bodies operating within internationally and regionally recognized accreditation scopes.
EGAC emphasized that signing this agreement represents a new step toward strengthening Egypt’s position within the international quality infrastructure system and reflects the growing confidence in the competence, impartiality, and reliability of the national accreditation system and its ability to operate in accordance with internationally recognized standards and practices.
The Council further noted that international and regional mutual recognition arrangements are among the most important mechanisms supporting international trade, as they contribute to reducing technical barriers to trade and enhancing international acceptance of testing, inspection, calibration, and certification results, thereby supporting the national economy and increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian institutions in international markets.
EGAC also reaffirmed its commitment to expanding international cooperation with regional and global organizations and institutions specialized in accreditation and quality, in support of Egypt’s plans to strengthen the national quality infrastructure, achieve sustainable development goals, and enhance international confidence in Egyptian products and services.
