Within the framework of the ongoing cooperation between the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) and the Suez Canal Authority (SCA)—one of Egypt’s leading national institutions and a source of pride for the nation—and in line with the Authority’s continuous efforts to apply the highest international quality standards associated with global recognition, EGAC has conducted the initial assessment visit to the Port Fouad Vocational Training Center, affiliated with the Suez Canal Authority.

This step comes in implementation of the directives of H.E. the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport, which emphasize supporting major national entities and enhancing their capabilities to achieve international recognition through the application of internationally recognized accreditation systems.

The assessment visit aims to qualify the Port Fouad Vocational Training Center to become a Certification Body for Persons in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 17024, covering a number of professional fields in which the Center provides specialized vocational training programs. This will enable the Center, upon successful accreditation, to issue certificates that are internationally recognized.

Such accreditation represents a key milestone in supporting the international recognition of certified professionals, as certificates issued by the Center—once accredited—will contribute to enhancing the professional qualifications of certificate holders, increasing their competitiveness, and ensuring that their competencies are recognized in accordance with internationally approved standards.

The EGAC assessment team carried out the visit at the Center’s premises in Port Fouad, where the evaluation activities included reviewing the management system, technical procedures, certification processes, and the extent of their conformity with the requirements of the relevant international standard.

The accreditation process is currently ongoing, in accordance with EGAC’s established procedures, pending the completion of all required steps and the issuance of the final accreditation decision. This initiative reflects EGAC’s role in supporting national institutions, strengthening the national quality infrastructure, and promoting international recognition of Egyptian competencies.
