Within the framework of supporting the national quality infrastructure and enhancing confidence in laboratory testing results, the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) has granted international accreditation to the Central Laboratory of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, in accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, for chemical testing of flour products.
The accreditation was granted following the laboratory’s successful fulfillment of all technical competence and quality management system requirements. The laboratory underwent a comprehensive on-site assessment conducted by an EGAC assessment team on 13 November 2025, during which technical, administrative, and operational aspects were reviewed, including staff competence, laboratory capabilities, and compliance with the applicable international standard.
Subsequent to the assessment, the laboratory effectively addressed all assessment findings within a short timeframe, demonstrating a high level of technical readiness and operational efficiency. Accordingly, EGAC approved the granting of accreditation on 25 December 2025, for a period of four years, effective from 26 December 2025, with authorization to use the EGAC accreditation mark in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
This accreditation represents the culmination of continuous development efforts undertaken by the laboratory, including upgrading laboratory infrastructure and implementing international best practices in chemical testing, thereby ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results and supporting the regulatory system for strategic commodities, particularly flour products.
EGAC affirms that this accreditation reflects its commitment to supporting governmental laboratories, enhancing international recognition of their results, and promoting quality, consumer protection, and food safety in line with internationally recognized standards.
