As part of its pivotal role in supporting the national quality infrastructure and promoting innovation and confidence in research outputs, the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) participated in granting the Institute of Plant Protection Research, affiliated with the Agricultural Research Center, the international accreditation certificate for the Innovation Management System in accordance with ISO 56001:2024.
With this achievement, the Institute becomes the first national research entity in the Arab Republic of Egypt to obtain this prestigious international accreditation, which sets rigorous requirements for managing innovation and transforming research ideas into practical, value-added solutions.
This international accreditation represents a significant milestone reflecting the Institute’s institutional commitment to applying international best practices in innovation management, enhancing the effectiveness of scientific research outcomes, and converting them into applied solutions that directly support the Egyptian farmer, contribute to environmental sustainability, and strengthen national development efforts.
The accreditation certificate was awarded through an international certification body, in cooperation with the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC), within the framework of the national accreditation system that ensures the highest levels of impartiality, technical competence, credibility, and international recognition. This, in turn, reinforces the global standing of Egyptian research institutions and enhances confidence in their technical capabilities.
The attainment of ISO 56001:2024 demonstrates the Institute’s advanced approach to innovation management, particularly in developing biological pesticides and safe alternatives to chemical pesticides, improving their application efficiency, accelerating technology transfer, and transforming scientific research results into market-ready and practically applicable products and solutions.
It is worth noting that the Institute of Plant Protection Research has a strong track record in achieving international accreditations. Four of its laboratories have previously obtained accreditation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017, while the Egyptian Reference Insect Museum has been awarded ISO 27001:2022 certification for Information Security Management Systems, underscoring the Institute’s sustained commitment to implementing the highest international standards across all its scientific and research activities.
EGAC affirms that this achievement highlights the growing importance of adopting innovation management systems within research institutions as a key driver for transforming knowledge into added value, enhancing competitiveness, and supporting sustainable development. The Council reiterates its continued commitment to supporting national entities across various sectors in obtaining internationally recognized accreditations in line with global best practices.
