In a new achievement reflecting the continuous advancement of Egypt’s national quality infrastructure system, the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS) has successfully renewed the international accreditation of five specialized laboratories at its Ramses Branch through the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC), in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
This achievement comes within the framework of EOS’s ongoing efforts to enhance its technical capabilities, improve laboratory efficiency, and implement the latest international systems and standards in the fields of testing, inspection, and calibration, thereby supporting national industry and strengthening confidence in the quality of Egyptian products and services at both regional and international levels.
The accreditation renewal followed comprehensive technical and assessment visits conducted by EGAC evaluation teams, which included reviewing the laboratories’ technical and administrative quality systems, evaluating the efficiency of equipment and instruments, and verifying compliance with international requirements related to technical competence and the accuracy and reliability of testing and analytical results.
Dr. Eng. Khaled Soufi, Chairman of the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality, affirmed that the renewal of international accreditation for these laboratories represents renewed confidence in the competence of EOS laboratories and their ability to provide testing, analytical, and calibration services in accordance with the highest internationally recognized standards of quality and technical competence.
He further noted that EOS continues implementing an ambitious development plan aimed at upgrading laboratory infrastructure, equipping laboratories with the latest scientific technologies and advanced equipment, and enhancing the capabilities of technical personnel through continuous training and qualification programs. These efforts contribute significantly to supporting national industry, protecting consumers, and increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian products in global markets.
He added that this achievement further confirms the pivotal role played by EOS as one of the key pillars of Egypt’s national quality infrastructure system, while also reinforcing Egypt’s position as a leading regional hub in the fields of standardization, quality, conformity assessment, and accreditation. This aligns with the directives of the Egyptian state and the Ministry of Industry toward building a more sustainable, innovative, and quality-driven industrial economy.
The accreditation renewal covered five specialized laboratories serving various industrial, food, chemical, and environmental sectors, namely:
- Chromatography Laboratory
- Food Laboratory
- Microbiology Laboratory
- Detergents and Soap Laboratory
- Inorganic Products Laboratory
The Chromatography Laboratory is considered one of the most advanced and highly specialized laboratories, relying on sophisticated chromatographic techniques for the detection, analysis, and quantification of chemical compounds in industrial, food, and environmental samples with high levels of precision and reliability in accordance with international standards.
The Food Laboratory represents one of the key components supporting Egypt’s food safety system through conducting precise testing and analysis of food products, verifying compliance with approved standards and specifications, and analyzing nutritional components and values to ensure consumer safety and protection.
Meanwhile, the Microbiology Laboratory plays a vital role in detecting biological and microbiological contaminants in food products, water, and various consumer products using internationally approved scientific methods and advanced equipment, thereby supporting national systems for health safety, monitoring, and quality assurance.
The Detergents and Soap Laboratory specializes in testing and evaluating cleaning and personal care products, analyzing their chemical properties, and assessing their efficiency and safety for both human and environmental use in accordance with recognized technical standards.
In addition, the Inorganic Products Laboratory conducts chemical testing and analysis for inorganic materials, fertilizers, chemical raw materials, and related products using advanced analytical technologies that ensure highly accurate and reliable results.
These laboratories provide a comprehensive range of advanced technical services in the fields of food analysis, chemical and microbiological contaminant detection, industrial and chemical product testing, and raw material analysis using internationally recognized scientific technologies and equipment, thereby supporting various industrial sectors and enhancing confidence in Egyptian laboratory results.
EOS emphasized that the renewal of accreditation for these five laboratories represents the outcome of continuous efforts to improve technical and administrative systems, modernize laboratory equipment and infrastructure, and enhance the competence of technical personnel, ensuring the continued delivery of testing and calibration services in accordance with the latest international standards and best practices.
This achievement also reflects the important national role played by the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) in supporting and strengthening Egypt’s quality infrastructure, enhancing confidence in the results issued by Egyptian laboratories, supporting national industry, protecting consumers, and contributing to increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian products and expanding their access to regional and international markets through internationally recognized testing and accreditation results.
