On 7 September 2025, the National Accreditation Council commenced its international evaluation by the two regional accreditation organizations: the African Accreditation Cooperation (AFRAC) and the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC). The purpose of this evaluation is to renew the international recognition of both organizations in seven accreditation fields: testing laboratories, calibration laboratories, medical laboratories, certification of management systems, product certification, personnel certification, and inspection bodies, in addition to extending the recognition to include producers of reference materials.
The Council currently operates in 13 accreditation fields, having recently added halal certification, biobanks, validation and verification bodies.
The international evaluation team consists of 16 members, including 12 experts from regional organizations and 4 members from the international accreditation organizations ILAC and IAF.
